Lifeline® Announces NEW Human Blood Cells: Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells and CD3+ Pan T Cells

The immune system is composed of a number of specialized blood cells types that police our bodies and fight infection. Lifeline® is excited to announce two new additions to the cell catalog: normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and normal human CD3+ Pan T Cells.

PBMCs

Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) comprise a group of blood cell types, including lymphocytes (T Cells, B Cells, and natural killer cells) and monocytes. In particular, they are characterized and distinguished from other peripheral blood cell types by having a round nucleus.

Lifeline® new PBMCs are purified from leukapharesed peripheral blood using density centrifugation, which separates molecules based on mass. They are cryopreserved directly after isolation to ensure optimal phenotype and the highest plating and viability efficiency.

Lifeline® new PBMCs can be used in various research applications and are an ideal culture model for studying immunology, autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, hematologic malignancies, vaccine development, high throughput screening, and transplant immunology. PBMCs can also be used to study the cytokine storm in coronavirus infections, similar to the methods used by Ng and colleagues, who infected PBMCs from a healthy donor with SARS-CoV (the coronavirus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS) to study the pathogenesis of the virus.

Our PBMCs are specifically characterized using flow cytometry and are positive for the T Cell markers CD3, CD4, and/or CD8; the monocyte marker CD16; the B Cell marker CD19; and the natural killer cell marker CD56.

CD3+ Pan T Cells

T Cells are immune lymphocytes that develop in the thymus. Once mature, they circulate throughout the bloodstream and lymphatic system, where they engage specific antigens and activate the immune system to destroy target cells expressing those antigens. Cluster of differentiation 3, or CD3, is a complex found on all T Cells, including CD4+ helper T Cells, CD8+ cytotoxic T Cells, and T regulatory cells.

Lifeline® new CD3+ Pan T Cells are isolated from leukapharesed blood and purified using immunomagnetic negative selection. This selection step helps to ensure that the resulting cell population is a pure T-cell population. Our CD3+ Pan T Cells are also quality tested using flow cytometry, and are positive for CD3, CD4, and CD8 – all T Cell-specific markers.

Our new CD3+ Pan T Cells are an ideal culture model for studying immunology, immunotherapy, autoimmunity, cancer, cell-based therapies, and infectious diseases.
